London Underground Information
The London Underground combined with with the London Culture App is the best way to explore central London. The Londons Culture App has all the major train stations and major attractions, London Underground and central London bus maps to make travelling around London an enjoyable and easier experience.
What zone is Central London in? Central London is in zone 1, zones 6 to 9 are on the outskirts of London.
How much do the train fares cost? This depends on the time of day, how many zones you travel through and how you pay. Oyster is recommended for single fares. Adult single journey in zone 1 is £4.90 cash, the same fare with Oyster card is £2.40. You can also purchase a London Travelcard.
What time do the trains stop running? Between 5 am and midnight, Monday to Saturday, with reduced operating hours on Sunday.
Try to avoid travelling on the Underground during the rush hours (Monday to Friday 7 am – 9.30 am and 5.30- 7 pm).
Did you know? Famous singers, footballers, actors have all used the Underground, so keep your eyes peeled you could be sitting beside a celebrity.
Remember! Stand behind the yellow line on the platform. Offer your seat to anyone pregnant, elderly or those travelling with small children.
